The Role:
Working as part of a wider team the role of the CNC programmer is to provide off-line CNC machining programs to the shop floor at our CNC Centre to enable efficient machining of foam, wood, textile and tooling parts. Understanding the use of CAD/CAM is essential in this role, as is a good understanding of the processes involved in CNC machining, using machines such as textile cutters, 3-axis and 5-axis routers, and waterjets.
Attention to detail, a can-do attitude, teamwork and a methodical approach are also important attributes.
Salary:
£34,000 - £38,000 per annum

Monday to Thursday 0800 – 1700
Friday 0800 – 1400

Duties & Responsibilities:
* Write, edit and adjust CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (Alphacam).
* Create and revise works instructions, drawings and cut & pack instructions for CNC machining and manually operated equipment.
* Design of shop aids, jigs, tooling, CNC fixtures as required.
* Support CNC machine operators with program queries and fixes, and verifying parts/programs to drawings.
* Collect, review and implement internal and external feedback, e.g. minor issues, red-inks and machining strategies.
* Liaise with customers & suppliers, including site visits, as required.
* Assist with cost estimation on new projects.
* Print job packs for production works orders.
* Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere.
* Identify and implement improvement opportunities within the organisation.
* Support and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
* Report to CNC Engineering Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
* 3-axis CAM programming experience (2 years essential)
* 5-axis CAM programming experience (highly desirable)
* Software suite: Alphacam or other Hexagon software desirable, any other CAM software experience advantageous
* Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD
* Strong understanding of industry best practise of CNC machining foam, wood and textile materials
* Good problem solving skills
* Strong communication on all levels
* Can-do attitude
