AMHP Specialist Practitioner
Location AMHP Hub, Sale Waterside, Sale, Cheshire M33 7ZF. Expectation is to be mainly office based but with flexibility to complete statutory reports at home as the service allows.
Salary range £ 39,513 to £ 41,511 plus a market supplement of £2145 and an AMHP allowance of £1754.16
Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm with some late working to complete statutory assessment work as required. Time in lieu is granted for late working. Flexible working day considered.
Working Pattern, 36.25 (pro rate for part time hours) 8.30 am to 4.30 pm (Monday to Friday)

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified AMHP Specialist Practitioner to join our team. You will be an important member of a small team of AMHPs working in a supportive environment at our AMHP Hub at Sale Town Hall in the borough of Trafford.
The Hub has a key role in the screening of requests for Mental Health Act assessments under Section 13 and also for the co-ordination and implementation of those assessments as required. The Hub also has a key role in working with other mental health and social care teams, providing advice, support and guidance to those teams in relation to the application of the legislation.
Within our Adults and Wellbeing directorate here at Trafford we have a strong emphasis on working together within a teamwork approach in addition to an emphasis on reflection on practice and the ongoing development of high standards of AMHP assessment work. As a Specialist Practitioner you will have access to individual AMHP supervision, to regular AMHP Forums and to refresher training for continuing personal development and to help to maintain competence to practice. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and support AMHP trainees as a Practice Educator and will be able to access Manchester University’s Practice Educator training programme.
About You
You will be an AMHP that has a good working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human rights, Care Act, Children Act and other related legislation and have a commitment to continually developing and refreshing this knowledge. You will bring a person-centred approach to your work and have a commitment to adopting a social perspective within your statutory assessment work. You will also have a commitment to always seeking to uphold the Guiding Principles enshrined within the MHA Code of Practice. You will have a commitment to supporting your AMHP colleagues with complex assessments which can raise challenging ethical, legal and practice dilemmas, in addition to providing advice and support to both AMHPs and other mental health professionals in the community teams around the application of Mental Health/ Mental Capacity legislation.

You will be required to work outside of core hours
on occasions as required by the demands of the statutory duty work which has commenced during normal daytime office hours.
