Job overview
Trafford General Hospital, part of Manchester Foundation Trust, is seeking to appoint a committed and compassionate MRI radiographer to join our imaging team. We scan a range of complex MRI scanning procedures across our main site at Trafford General Hospital and our CDC site at Withington Community Hospital.
To provide a high-quality MR service to all patients at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).
The MR Department consists of a friendly and compassionate team with patient care at the forefront of imaging practice. We work a 7-day week, rotating across both sites on 11.5 working hours per shift with no night shifts and on-call.
We are a busy department within MFT and work within a bigger team of Radiographers and Radiology Assistants.
The range of pediatric and adult MR examinations across all scanners is extensive. Both Withington and Trafford General Hospitals are busy departments, performing a wide range of examinations including MR Breast imaging at Trafford Hospital. You will be expected to work a 12-hour (11.5 working hours) shift across a 7-day working pattern.
Main duties of the job
Primarily undertake radiographic duties in any of the MR scanners at MFT, ensuring high standards of radiographic quality and patient care are maintained and delivered in a timely manner.
1. Assess the patients’ condition and adapt technique accordingly. Communicate highly complex information and inform relatives and carers when necessary of the procedure being undertaken.
2. Analyse complex tasks or situations requiring interpretation or comparison of a range of options. Possess specialist skills for assessing acute and other patient conditions, adapting MR parameters to complex cases.
3. Be proactive in your work, taking responsibility wherever you are working if the modality leads are not present and supervising junior staff to ensure the department is working safely and efficiently.
4. Empathise and reassure patients who are worried, anxious, or reluctant to undergo the procedure by providing thoughtful and constructed responses to their questions.
5. Be competent in all MR specialist techniques and in the use of all specialist equipment used in MR following appropriate training.

Qualifications
* BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
* 1 Year or more experience in MR
* Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
* Pediatric experience
* More than 2 years experience in MR
