Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? We are working with a highly regarded specialist school in Dawlish that provides exceptional education and care to students aged 3–19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, communication and interaction difficulties, and learning challenges. Right now, they are seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students in their vibrant, inclusive school community.
Set against the stunning backdrop of woodland and coastline, this school offers a truly unique learning environment, where students benefit from an adapted curriculum, specialist interventions, and therapeutic support. As part of a dedicated team, you’ll help provide a structured and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
Your role will involve:
* Supporting students in the classroom to help them remain engaged, focused, and making progress
* Working 1:1 or with small groups to deliver interventions tailored to individual needs
* Establishing positive, trusting relationships and acting as a role model
* Providing social and emotional support, helping students develop confidence and resilience
* Assisting with lesson resources, classroom displays, and practical preparation
* Monitoring pupil progress and supporting with EHCP documentation and feedback
* Supervising students during breaks and transitions around the school
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Positive, empathetic, and enthusiastic about working with young people
* Experienced in supporting individuals with SEN (desirable, but not essential)
* A confident communicator with a good understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs
* A reliable team player with a proactive, can-do attitude
* Able to bring energy, creativity, and a great sense of humour to the role
