A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join a well-established public sector legal team. This role focuses on providing high-quality legal advice on public law children’s matters, including care and adoption proceedings, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and protecting the best interests of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advise on and conduct proceedings relating to the care and protection of children and young people.
* Represent the organisation in courts and tribunals, including undertaking advocacy where required.
* Provide expert legal advice on child protection, public law outline (PLO), care proceedings, and adoption matters .
* Support clients in negotiations, judicial reviews, and safeguarding issues.
* Develop and deliver legal training to key stakeholders, enhancing awareness of children’s social care law.
* Contribute to policy development and legal strategy, supporting best practices within the organisation.
About You:
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in public law children’s matters .
* Strong knowledge of childcare law, care and adoption proceedings, and local government legal frameworks .
* Ability to handle a complex and sensitive caseload while delivering timely and effective legal support.
* Advocacy experience is desirable, with the ability to represent clients in courts and tribunals.
* Strong communication skills, with experience advising and supporting professionals in children’s social care.
