We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 5 pupil with ASD. This role is integral in helping the pupil thrive in their learning environment, ensuring they feel included and valued within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support a Year 5 pupil on a one-to-one basis, focusing on their communication, social, emotional, and academic needs.
* Utilise vibrant visual aids and resources, including flashcards, to enhance communication and learning.
* Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and pastoral team to develop and implement tailored learning strategies that cater to the pupil's individual needs.
* Foster a positive and loving relationship with the pupil, encouraging their social interactions and emotional well-being.
* Assist the pupil in staying on track with classroom activities while ensuring they feel included with their peers.
* Provide support in the sensory unit to help manage sensory needs and promote a calming learning environment.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children with ASD or similar special educational needs is highly desirable.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and the ability to use alternative communication methods effectively.
* A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to teaching and support.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SLT, and other support staff.
* A passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment.
