As an Scrub Nurse, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team providing a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. In addition to this, you will also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient care. The post holder will adhere to professional and national standards and work in a patient-focused way. Delivering a service that is safe, effective and efficient.

Job responsibilities

This will include:Prepare patients for clinical/ operative proceduresProvide assistance in clinical/ operative proceduresProviding initial emergency care as required.Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards.Ensuring that the patients comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operativeprocedures incorporating various types of surgery prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Managerimmediately.Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment during the operating list, ensuring the equipment is used in anappropriate and safe manner. Monitor and check stock items including consumables, equipment and drugs.Promote and ensure an environment conducive to the continuing prevention and control of infection for all staff,patients and visitors.Ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed.Maintain the safe custody, handling of drugs in accordance with Kinvara Private Hospitals policyParticipate in education, training and development of other staff.Actively contribute to changes in practice and policies when changes have arisen which may follow an audit,complaint or newly issued guidance.Adhere to all Kinvara Private Hospital policies and procedures.Undertaking any other duties as required by the line manager.

Experience
* Experience in gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery and plastics.
* Previous experience of working with a private hospital.
Qualifications
* BSC Hons Adult Nursing
* Minimum of 3 years experience as a scrub nurse
* ILS
* Cannulation
