The role of Junior Patient Transport Assessment Officer is to support and facilitate the effective use of Non-Emergency Patient Transport by the Trust. This is critical to both the effective flow of patients to and from the hospital as well as ensuring support is provided to eligible patients. The post-holder will work as part of a team to assess patients and support other staff to use this service properly.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for undertaking patient transport eligibility assessments in order to facilitate the efficient and effective running of our Non-Emergency Patient Transport service.
The role will primarily involve telephone assessments from both hospital and community patients, escalating as required and working with the senior members of the team to develop and enhance the service we provide to patients.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification
Essential
* Educated to degree standard or having five years of full-time employment experience.
Desirable
* Nursing qualification (or equivalent) to allow for clinical assessment of patients
* Qualification in conflict management/resolution and/or customer service.
Experience
Essential
* Working in a customer/patient facing role for at least three years.
* Dealing with difficult/challenging individuals in a professional manner.
Desirable
* Working within a frontline NHS environment
* Involvement in the discharge process at an NHS hospital
Skills/Abilities
Essential
* Excellent telephone skills (including good, clear communication skills)
* Computer literate with good Word/Excel skills
