Out Of Hours Facility Supervisor at Denchi
• Salary: £12 per hour
• Location: Denchi House, Thurso Business Park
• Contract: Full-time
• Hours: 40 hours per week
COMPANY SUMMARY
Denchi are at the forefront of the UK Lithium-Ion battery industry and have been established in Thurso since a management buy-out in 2014. Now privately owned by UK shareholders, Denchi designs and manufactures custom rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries for international defence agencies, prime contractors, and UK manufacturers and is a distributor of non-rechargeable batteries and cells for customers including the UK MoD, the NHS and other UK public sector organisations. As the UK Battery industry continues to mature, the need has arisen to establish a 24/7 presence in the facility to oversee the security and safety of test processes that run overnight and at weekends.

ROLE
• Regular safety and security walkarounds of facility
• Supporting and monitoring battery testing activities
• Maintain hygiene of communal areas and facilities
• Support of company Foreign Object & Debris (FOD) policy through housekeeping duties in and around manufacturing, stores, laboratory, and quality inspection areas
• Production testing, packaging and preparation work
• Selection and organisation of materials from stores for the production team to use
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience of working in a position of trust
• Comfortable with lone working
• Vigilant and observant
• Candidates will require to demonstrate Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, and a right to work in the UK.

Shift pattern (average 40-hour week):
Backshift:
• 5pm to 12pm - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
• 3pm to 7pm - Friday
• 7am to 7pm - Saturday and Sunday.
Nightshift:
• 12pm to 7am - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
• 7pm to 7am - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Christmas shutdown: Factory closes down for Christmas (this will require 3 or 4 days of annual leave).
Holiday cover:
• To enable holidays to be covered we request as much notice as possible. 28 days notice may be required to ensure adequate cover can be arranged.
• To cover holidays, we may require you to come in to work on your week off. The extra week will be paid at the standard rate. This would result in working every day for 5 weeks so we will attempt to cover the third weekend shifts with Production, Engineering or admin staff.
Sickness cover:
• If you are working the backshift and the nightshift employee phones in sick you may have to extend your shift until 7am. Extra hours will be paid at the standard rate.
• If you are working the nightshift and the backshift employee phones in sick, you may be asked if it is possible for you can come in early. Extra hours will be paid at the standard rate.
• If an employee calls in sick for the weekend shifts, this will be covered by on-call staff.
• If you are unable to attend your shift, you must let us know as soon as possible to ensure we can get cover in place.
Duties:
• Regular walkarounds. Check all areas of the facility, check for fire hazards, security of doors and windows, lights off, plugs and sockets switched off if possible, etc.
• Cleaning. General cleaning and tidying duties, mopping floors, scrubbing floors (machine), cleaning kitchen surfaces, hoovering, dusting, emptying bins, etc.
• Testing: Final testing batteries using an automated test program
• Packaging: Filling cardboard boxes, sealing and labelling
• Test: Monitoring and moving batteries under test
• Facility maintenance: tidying and organising areas, painting floors, painting walls, etc.
Training will be required to ensure you can safely complete the above duties. This training will be provided on the job, it may be necessary for you to start your shift an hour earlier and finish your shift an hour later for the first couple of months to allow knowledge transfer.
