An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative nurse to undertake the role of charge nurse within the Learning Disability inpatient service. Currently, there are 3 inpatient areas in the service: one admission assessment, one small bespoke facility, and one regional low secure forensic area.
You will be a 1st level registered nurse in Learning Disability or Mental Health, holding current UK NMC registration, with post-registration experience in working with people with learning disabilities. You must possess the ability to work across professional boundaries, have a strong teamwork ethic, and the aspiration to develop your own clinical skills.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced nurse with excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills. The role involves providing specialist assessment, care planning, and care evaluation to people with a learning disability who require additional support with mental illness, autism, ADHD, or forensic needs.
In addition to this, you will also provide support as part of an emergency page holder rota, providing clear leadership to junior staff and cover in the absence of the senior charge nurse where required.
You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work with the wider multidisciplinary team, care providers, and families. You should have the ability to work autonomously, utilizing your own initiative and clinical judgment.
The Learning Disability Nursing Service is dedicated to the provision of ongoing effective supervision and support, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
