Job Purpose
To maintain and repair a specialist fleet of police vehicles efficiently & cost-effectively, thus meeting all Force and legislative requirements
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Qualification: NVQ level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle + Electronic systems Light and/or Heavy Vehicle or equivalent with experience in the motor trade with a current clean driving licence.
Post holder will need the ability to undertake a range of vehicle body repairs, including panel & component replacements for light & heavy vehicles, alongside capacity to fully utilise all vehicle platforms & operating systems and effect specific vehicle conversions and fit unique specialist onboard equipment
Detailed awareness of: vehicle manufacturers warranty processes; vehicle diagnostic systems & methods and; manufacturer specific diagnostic equipment & diagnostic reporting as well as workshop tools/machinery/equipment, their usage & calibration
Effective interpersonal communicator, able to explain vehicle maintenance and repairs & engage with diverse staff & officers
Balanced team & lone-worker approach - will need to be methodical, thorough & make soundly-judged decisions on tasks & workload triage
Manufacturer and blue light training available to enhance skillset once in full time post.

Shift Pattern BelowOpening Hours 08:00am to 18:00pm
Week 1WED,THURS, FRI = 30hr week = 3 day working week then 4 days off
Week 2 - MON, TUES, WED = 30hr week = 3 day working week then 4 days off
Week 3MON, TUES,WED, SAT,SUN = 50 hr week = 5 day working week then 2 days off
Week 4MON, THUR,FRI,SAT,SUN = 50 week = 5 day working week then 2 days off
****Then after Week 4 it reverts back to Week 1 and the cycle continues.****
Shift allowance of 12.5% added to salary for working x2 Saturdays and x2 Sundays a month (as part of the working week)
Overtime if required due to demand or Operational requirementsThis can be taken either as pay or toil (day off another day)
