Materials Buyer/Planner
Location: Wellingborough
Salary: Up to £41k
Our Wellingborough-based client is a full-service, global engineering, repair, and logistics company providing best-cost solutions to many of the world's premier brands. They support the entire product life cycle, from original design input, pre-sales testing, local customization and configuration through to field support activities that include technical assistance as well as product repair, replacement, and refurbishment programs.
With a brand new site in Wellingborough, they are now recruiting an experienced procurement and planning specialist on a permanent basis. As Materials Buyer/Planner, you will be responsible for purchasing goods, raw materials, and services ensuring that operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality, and delivery.
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Create material requirement plans based on historical spare part consumption analysis.
2. Place daily purchase/call-off orders to the supplier and follow up on their fulfillment.
3. Handle DOA and return component processes with the supplier.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, and monitor supplier performance.
5. Highlight to production any supply issues/constraints and advise on recovery if available.
6. Work collaboratively with Engineering and Project teams and support new product implementation such as end-of-life or last time buy process.
7. Communicate with supply chain, production leads, supervisors, and accounting to resolve process and cost issues.
8. Ensure compliance with Company Policies and Guidelines.
9. Monitor excess and obsolete inventory ensuring maximized inventory turns.
10. Act professionally, fairly, and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships.
11. Provide cover for all the team where appropriate.
About You:
1. Must be qualified to or working towards Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.
2. Proven experience in a materials planning, purchasing role in a supply chain, logistics, or warehousing environment.
3. Knowledge and experience of ERP or SAP systems.
4. High level of computer literacy, including Advanced Excel and Outlook.
5. Strong credibility with confidence and personal skills to develop good relationships.
6. Proven ability to work in a pressurized environment.
7. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
8. Commitment to continuous improvement.
9. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
