JOB TITLE: SENIOR GAS SERVICE ENGINEER (Mobile role covering Birmingham, Coventry & surrounding areas)
You are required to travel to and work at various locations within Birmingham, Coventry & surrounding area as the Company shall reasonably require for the proper performance of your duties.
HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (40 hours per week)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Directors
RECRUITMENT: This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS and reference checks.
Summary of Duties:
1. Service and maintenance of gas appliances and boiler fault finding experience within both commercial and domestic properties.
2. Supervise staff, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support.
3. Resolve any issues raised by the on-call engineers.
4. Lead projects/teams - providing technical support for onsite engineers and office staff.
5. Carry out site inspections, post work inspections, engineers meetings, toolbox talks, tool audits, van audits, staff inductions.
6. Attend service and reactive breakdowns to fault find, diagnose and repair in a timely and cost effective manner.
7. Using knowledge and boiler fault finding experience to provide high levels of first time fix and customer care.
8. Carry out day to day responsive maintenance, service and repairs as instructed.
9. Conduct servicing and safety checks on all heating systems and identify necessary works to ensure compliance with current gas/oil safety regulations.
10. Attend to boiler/system breakdowns, inspect and identify all works required for proper functioning of heating systems.
11. Make immediate decisions regarding repair requirements and inform the relevant director.
12. Inform the tenant when it is not possible to complete a repair within the first visit and make mutually agreed arrangements to return to complete the job.
13. Ensure protection of tenant's furnishings at all times.
14. Direct helpers engaged in assembly or installation of heating systems or components.
15. Liaise with management and/or clients to ensure all works are completed.
16. Ensure all works and repairs are completed safely and in accordance with current codes and practices.
17. Abide by all client rules and regulations whilst on site.
18. Ensure a 'best value and cost effective approach' when purchasing materials.
19. Maintain and keep up to date all required training for the role.
20. Accurately complete all relevant documentation and ensure prompt return of information related to daily tasks.
21. Use company vehicle in accordance with current policies and procedures.
22. Ensure all company property is operated safely, kept clean, and in good order.
23. Proactively find and quote additional works as required.
24. Adhere to Company policies and procedures, handbook, and Health & Safety regulations.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
* Extensive experience as a lead engineer.
* Recognised gas apprenticeship and Commercial gas certificates ACS - CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1, CPA1.
* Gas experience within the commercial sector: analysing, fault finding, service, repair, and maintenance on gas/heating installations and appliances.
* Working knowledge of test equipment including an electrical multi-meter.
* Flexible approach to travel, as this is a mobile position involving multiple sites across the West & East Midlands.
* Ability to work additional hours over contracted hours as needed, with overtime payable.
* Be part of the emergency call-out team on a rota basis.
* Promote a positive and professional attitude to all customers and staff.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as within a team.
* Willingness to undertake further training/development as required.
* Effective communication skills with tenants and the public.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Basic IT Skills.
* Must have had or be willing to have all Covid vaccinations.
