We have an exciting opportunity for a Research & Policy Officer to join the Performance & Governance Team on a temporary basis for 12 months. In this role you will manage the administration and review of force policies and procedural instructions and provide support and guidance in relation to HMICFRS inspection activity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the policy and procedural instruction administration, including liaison with subject matter experts, advising on content and format
* Conduct ad hoc audits of policies and procedures to help ensure they are up to date
* Support the external inspection (HMICFRS) process by providing administrative and planning support
* Assist in the management, coordination, and delivery of actions and recommendations from the inspection process
* Conduct ad hoc research, horizon scanning, and benchmarking requests to support performance improvement across the force
* Assist in the production and presentation of reports
Skills and Experience:
* Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a varied workload
* Experience of undertaking research and/or auditing activities on specific issues to identify areas for focus, write reports and make recommendations
* Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with a collaborative mindset
* Ability to work effectively with a range of software including Microsoft Office and MS365 products

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
