In the role of Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved with and responsible for the design and development of bespoke hydraulic mechanical products and systems within key bolting industries. Oversee products throughout the entire life cycle, from design through to commissioning. Provide key technical assistance/knowledge to support customers and other departments within the business. Your profile consists of the following areas of experience, knowledge, and responsibility: Design and detailed engineering of bespoke mechanical and hydro-mechanical products. Understand relevant technical standards relating to the design and detailed engineering of bespoke mechanical and hydro-mechanical products. Create drawings for hydraulic components and assemblies utilizing 2D & 3D modelling in Autodesk Inventor. Create and maintain part, assembly, and general arrangement drawings using Vault Carry out feasibility studies, application checks, reviews and design calculations. Define part numbers and assembly structures for input into Bills of Materials (BOM’s) using D365 (Dynamics) Understanding standard product range and applicable application. Provide support to internal sales, with the production of general arrangement drawings, costing drawings and component pricing. Interface with our customers/distributors and suppliers on a regular basis to meet project objectives. Resolve technical issues with customers where required (occasional travel/site visits may be required). Liaise with Production & Assembly/Test to ensure that all necessary testing and documentation is complete prior to dispatch. Undertake product change requests in accordance with the Engineering Change Notes system. Provide technical assistance / knowledge to other departments and customers. Maintains system and product data base. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks. participating in professional societies. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. Follows all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures. Requirements & Desired Characteristics: HNC/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design with a minimum of 1-year technical experience in a manufacturing environment Technical Apprenticeship with at least 2 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment Fluent in both spoken and written English language Authority to act within the specified tasks Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a project team in a fast-paced environment and be willing to learn and improve in all skill areas • Proficient of in use of Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD Package • Proficient with MS operating systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) • Familiarity with FEA (ideally NASTRAN or ANSYS) is preferred • Familiarity with high pressure hydraulics advantageous • Familiarity with D365 environment advantageous • Organizational, planning, and time management skills, including attention to detail • Must possess excellent communications skills, both verbal and written • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work well with others • Ability to understand and produce technical documentation and drawings • Technical communication • Follow all systems, policies, and procedures • Self-driven with the ability to work autonomously as required We value diverse teams that work smarter and deliver solutions in a dynamic environment while offering challenging projects and opportunities to learn and develop for your success.
