Our client is a leading, well-established Building Services Consultancy. They work in a range of industries including Commercial, Residential, Education, Retail, Leisure, and Healthcare. Having been awarded several new contracts, they are now recruiting a Principal Electrical Engineer to manage an existing design team.
The Position
As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the running of various projects. Undertaking a client-facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities, etc.
1. Developing and specifying applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes.
2. Carrying out surveys, tests, and dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
3. Specifying activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
4. Day-to-day decision-making on project progress and direct liaison with and providing advice to clients.
5. Representing the Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors.
6. Ensuring engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
7. Leading on the coordination of engineering services.
8. Taking a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.
The Person
As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you should have at least seven years of industry experience with the ability to run medium to large-sized projects and undertake a client-facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering projects.
1. BSc/BEng or degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience.
2. MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate experience or equivalent.
3. Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
4. Significant experience of specification design for several building types; healthcare experience would be beneficial.
5. Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
6. Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
7. Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
8. Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC, and Technical Review perspective.
9. Background in consulting or construction.
