Interim Surveyor – Property Services

Pay Rate: £20.99 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months
City: Plymouth, Devon
Candidates must be prepared to travel across Devon and Cornwall
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business insurance is required for this role
The purpose of the role is to provide technical surveying across a geographical portfolio of properties and contract management for a defined planned maintenance programme across the region. Contributing to the development and implementation of the vision, Corporate Strategy, culture and organisational effectiveness.
Surveyors will be assigned major works and cyclical programmes to deliver and allocated a geographical patch that is aligned to a housing neighbourhood officer (where possible). They will be responsible for surveying any void properties, surveying repairs that have be requested by customers, post inspections, identifying all communal repairs and ensuring these are managed through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake domestic and commercial building surveys to provide advice on matters such as construction defects, disrepair and dilapidations.
Produce detailed reports concerning findings including options for remedial solutions with cost estimates and proposals regarding safe methods of work.
Provide advice to colleagues regarding legislative matters such Planning and Building Regulations approval etc
Keeping abreast of industry law and best practice and how to apply them to our operations.
Working with and influencing colleagues in other parts of the business to achieve operational outcomes
Qualifications:
Relevant academic and/or professional qualification in Construction or Surveying.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of surveying and contract management in the social housing sector.
Experience of monitoring works budgets c. £500k.
Experience managing procurement processes.
Working knowledge of current Health and Safety with particular reference to the building and construction sector.
Commercial awareness with an understanding of financial and contractual considerations.
Current methods, standards and initiatives relating to repair and refurbishment of residential dwellings.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
