Your new school
Four Dwellings Academy is part of Lift Schools, a MAT with 57 schools, 10 in the Midlands, which allows you access to the best training programmes available as well as more internal opportunities. Four Dwellings is a secondary school led by an ambitious and dedicated Principal, Claire Stoneman. The school has established a strong leadership team that has been recognised in the school's recent 'good' Ofsted inspection, acknowledging 'leaders have ensured the school sits at the heart of the local community again'. The school has just received the best GCSE results to date, is above national for both progress and attainment, and has topped the list in Birmingham as the second most improved school for progress in the city. They are now looking to recruit a Safeguarding Support Officer on a permanent, part-time basis.
This role is key to the Lift Schools' mission that every child receives an excellent education, in every classroom, every day.
Your new role
You will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to support the welfare of all pupils within the school. You will make a strong contribution to children's learning and achievement by providing important support and guidance to enable families to take responsibility for their children's education and welfare. You will assist on all matters of safeguarding and child protection across the school, working in accordance with all statutory and legislative safeguarding policy and frameworks. You will also take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of children. This is a crucial role for the school and a real opportunity for someone to make an impact quickly.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be empathetic and compassionate with the experience of motivating families and promoting high expectations for students, as well as the ability to engage effectively with young people, families, and professionals. You will bring with you up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and knowledge of the education sector, safer recruitment, and safeguarding/child protection. Equally, you will have GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or above or equivalent) and a DSL qualification (level 3) or a willingness to undertake training.
