Quality Engineer - Forging, Welding, Fabrication
Location: Manchester
Salary: £40,000 - £44,000 + Bonus & Benefits
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer on behalf of a well-established and globally connected forging and welding manufacturing business. Based in Manchester, this company has seen strong sales and impressive cost and waste reductions, yet there remains significant opportunity for further improvement—particularly in reducing internal scrap and the cost of poor quality.
The Role
This is a hands-on role focused on improving internal quality and reducing defects within the manufacturing process. The successful Quality Engineer will work closely with the production team across all areas to identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Using data analysis to identify trends and assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.
2. Implementing structured problem-solving methodologies (such as 8D) to identify root causes of defects.
3. Driving corrective and preventative actions to eliminate recurring issues.
4. Ensuring that all quality-related processes and documentation are updated to reflect implemented improvements.
5. Engaging with relevant stakeholders to instil a culture of continuous improvement.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in problem-solving methodologies and be driven to ensure corrective actions are fully implemented. Experience working with metallic products and manufacturing processes is essential, with a particular focus on:
1. Forging, heat treatment, welding, and fabrication.
2. Machining metallic products (candidates with this experience must also demonstrate an understanding of material behaviour through various manufacturing stages).
3. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes and reports.
What's on Offer?
1. Salary: £40,000 - £44,000
2. Monthly bonus (average of 7% this year)
3. Pension: 4% employer match
4. Holidays: 25 days + 8 statutory holidays
5. Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (1:30 PM finish on Fridays)
6. On-site role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a business committed to quality improvement and operational excellence. If you have the relevant experience and the drive to make a real impact, we would love to hear from you.
