The exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist to work into the inpatient unit at Auckland Park Hospital, Bishop would be pleased to hear from applicants interested inworking less than full time or in a job share arrangement.
Wewould also be pleased to hear from candidates interested in split roles orspecial interests across the broad spectrum of Old Age Psychiatry, as there maybe some flexibility in this role.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical duties will be based on Ceddesfeld Ward. You will provideclinical and medical leadership to the MDT and will lead the assessment andtreatment of those patients on the ward. The post holder will be expected towork with a well-established, cohesive and enthusiastic MDT to maintain a highstandard of clinical care for our patients.
The ward operates a report out every weekdaymorning, which is effectively a board round of all patients on the ward. This helps the MDT review the progress and risks of every patient overthe preceding 24 hours, provides an opportunity for the MDT to discusstreatment plans and allocate any tasks. You are expectedto attend wherever possible.
The post holder will beexpected to have a familiarity with important relevant legislation affectingthe care of older people with mental illness. The post-holder is expected to bethe Responsible Clinician for any patients on the ward and will undertake anysuch duties that are specified by the Mental Health Act.
The post-holder is expected toprioritise Mental Health Act Assessments for their own patients during workinghours and be a qualified DOLS Mental Health Assessor for any patients on theirpersonal caseload.
The Trust is eager to supportthe development of a special interest and this is negotiable either at the timeof employment or at the Annual Job Plan Review meeting.
