Job Title: Operations Engineer

Responsible to: Operations Manager
Primary role: To liaise with the Operations and Maintenance teams so that planned and emergent work is raised, safety assessed and completed in a safe, effective and timely manner. Source new suppliers for the business. Work with contractors and suppliers to ensure that work and services are completed satisfactorily and raise Purchase Orders for the work or services. Steer any process or plant modifications arising on site, liaising with maintenance, operations and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the correct application of the Safety Rules including the preparation of work orders. Ensure the site is compliant with PSSR, LOLER, PUWER.
2. Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and policies and lead by example with respect to promoting a safe working environment.
3. Work closely with the planner and maintenance team to strategically plan and manage Annual Outages, plant modifications, projects and daily operational maintenance requirements.
4. Stand in as SAP to cover STL’s during absence and outage cover.
5. Manage the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
6. Review the annual budget and ensure the facility adheres to the forecast.
7. Conduct Site and Acceptor Inductions and training for Authorised Persons.
8. To ensure the facility is operated in full compliance with all warranty and design criteria; planning conditions; environmental permit.
9. Manage and support an effective safety and housekeeping programme, including timely communication and carrying out QSHE Inspections.
10. To act as senior person in the Operations Department when the Operations Manager is absent.
11. Set up, manage and audit contracts as assigned by senior management in line with the purchasing procedures.
12. Work with the Operations and Maintenance Manager to ensure all staff are competent and trained. Carry out periodic reviews of the PDR’s.
13. To chair daily morning maintenance meetings to plan the days' work including any emergent or breakdown activities.
14. To chair daily afternoon maintenance meetings to discuss progress of the days' work and any work planned for the following day and any longer term planned work.
15. Provide assistance to the maintenance department with regards to statutory inspections and surveys.
16. Ensure repairs are carried out to all non-process items resulting from damage incidents.

Experience for the role:
1. Extensive operations experience in the power generation sector. This can include Energy from Waste, CCGT, Oil, Coal or Biomass or time served Royal Navy engineer.
2. Exposure to working in demanding and dynamic environments, with a proven ability to remain calm and offer consistent leadership.
3. Knowledge of all relevant facility consents, H&S legislation, safe working environments, safety rules and outages.
