About the Role As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting a student with individual learning needs, ensuring they receive consistent and structured support throughout their school day. You will be responsible for implementing personalised learning strategies, promoting engagement and fostering confidence in the child’s abilities. Responsibilities of the 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA): Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with identified SEN requirements. Assist in developing and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs). Support the student’s academic and social development through differentiated learning activities. Foster positive behaviour management techniques, ensuring the student remains engaged and motivated. Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet the student’s specific learning needs. Encourage independence and build the student’s confidence in a structured setting. Work in collaboration with the SENCO, teaching staff and external professionals to implement targeted interventions. Monitor progress and provide detailed reports on student development to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will have: Proven experience as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role is advantageous. A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or a willingness to obtain one). Strong understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive education practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and staff. The ability to remain calm, patient and adaptable in challenging situations. Experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH needs is beneficial. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
