Title: Assistant Cost Manager Division: Quantity Surveying Location: Weybridge Reporting to: Partner Department Overview Our Cost Management Team at RLB proactively manage the cost of a building project, from the initial design stages through to the building’s completion and sometimes even the costs incurred through maintenance and operation once the building is up and running. Surveyors work in close contact with the client, advising them on financial and legal matters that arise during the project. Overview Of Role We are currently recruiting an Assistant Cost Manager to join a client focused team within our Thames Valley region. This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to join and strengthen our Cost Management team. This role will be to work on a major client account and programme of works. Involving the delivery of our cost management consultancy services throughout all stages of a project life cycle projects from front end cost feasibility cost planning, design development and procurement through to post contract commercial management and final accounting in accordance with our appointment for consultancy cost management services. Our wider team in Thames Valley work across many sectors including higher education, residential, science, laboratories, research, healthcare and more. The team is well established and in a period of growth. You will gain valuable project and client exposure, be given responsibility for your own projects and be offered a platform to progress with genuine support from the team and wider business to achieve your career goals. You will gain valuable experience working alongside senior level individuals along with gaining support and training toward your professional development. Key Responsibilities The individual will be an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of a project To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures Comply with established commercial/procurement/ contractual strategies Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards Cost Planning, post contract and procurement duties Person Specification The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline Strong technical delivery experience Desire to become chartered / studying towards gaining professional qualification via RICS or another professional body Client facing Able to build long-term relationships Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client A track record of working with teams and supporting on projects A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic, and ambitious RLB will provide you with a flexible, friendly and creative environment in one of our UK offices to develop your skills and challenge yourself.
