Main duties of the job
Our Paediatric Emergency Nursing (PEN) team is continuing to grow and is now looking for further Band 5 and 6 Paediatric Nurses to work with us in caring for children within our emergency department at Scunthorpe and Grimsby Hospitals.
The successful applicant will be working closely and alongside the existing team of Paediatric Nurses in the Paediatric Assessment and Observation Unit (PAOU), nursing staff and medical staff in ECC, along with other specialities.
We are working in a 'flying squad' model acting as an advocate for children in ECC who are acutely unwell, and their parents/carers, in being a role model for all staff, showing respect for colleagues, always acting with kindness and having the courage to challenge practice that does not meet the needs of children.
Experience working with children in an ECC and/or Paediatric Assessment Unit would be an advantage; training will be given for skills required for minor injuries as described in the job description.
This position will be based at Scunthorpe General Hospital or Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, within our cross-site service. You will be responsible to a Band 7 Sister working across both sites.
