The Dispatcher, will operate as part of the Regional Dispatch Team, based in our Regional Dispatch Centres in Staines, and is primarily responsible for delivery and execution of the plan developed by the Regional Dispatch Team. Delivering the best-in-class service to our customers at optimal cost and efficiency, maximising all physical resources most optimally and ensuring the gap in Plan vs Actual remains closed. Focusing on rigid operations efficiency, the Dispatcher will deploy the most optimal plan via Ortec planning and optimisation tool, in line with business priority, directed by Head of Dispatch or Regional Dispatch Manager, as well as acting as a support to our driver community to aid them to deliver the plan, whilst acting as conduit to commercial to support any same day requests where capacity is available via Ortec planning and optimisation tool, in line with business priority. This role is a supporting role to our driver workforce to aid them in delivering the plan, recovering non-delivered drops, recycling LOB and execution of the plan. This role will proactively manage LOB by monitoring planned vs actual volumes via on truck telemetry and adding additional drops into the plan where capacity and time allows to drive up delivered volumes. Principal Responsibilities Planning forward (day 1) commercial demand in UK Land order book across regional network. Plan the most efficient routes utilising Ortec. Work with our Optimisation planning system. Plan over and above our daily budget targets. Plan to budgeted throughput on vehicle profile. Collaborate with commercial stakeholders to ensure business priorities are delivered. Deliver productivity budget and deliver improvement in productivity Deliver productivity budget and deliver improvement in productivity. Execute the plan in collaboration with our driver workforce. Forming potential solutions to transport problems. Finding solutions to same day enquiries. Regularly monitor and analyse driver trips to get ahead of issues. Proactively manage LOB in collaboration with drivers. Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements Based in Office in Staines. Education Required GCSE Work Experience Required Experience in a complex national multi-site logistics business. Work experience gained as a vehicle planner is highly desirable. Analytical work experience is essential. Experience gained with a vehicle routing system is desirable. Understanding of fuel distribution. Experience working in a multi drop logistics environment.
