Youth Worker - 4 hours once per fortnight - £15.97 per hour
The Charity
Ups and Downs Southwest is a Down Syndrome Support charity working with children, families, and professionals across the Southwest. We carry out direct family support work and offer training packages to professionals from the health, education, and social care sectors. With over 20 years of experience, we are the ‘go-to’ service for all families, professionals, and all those involved in the care and education of children and young people who have Down Syndrome.
The Position
The Sherborne Youth Worker will oversee the organisation, management, and delivery of our once-per-fortnight youth club sessions for young people (age ten plus) who have Down Syndrome. This post is funded by Children in Need, and part of the conditions include sourcing and working with external providers to offer stimulating, interesting, and educational activities for our young people. In addition, managing a small budget is in line with our grant conditions. The post holder will also need to utilize and manage a small bank of volunteers who support the youth club provision.
The Location
The successful candidate will be operating out of the Community Centre, Sherborne. In addition, the post holder will be expected to attend team meetings and training opportunities on occasion at our main office in Westonzoyland, 4 miles outside of Bridgwater. Additional hours will be paid.
There will be an opportunity for all interested candidates to visit a youth club session to meet our young people and view the setting. If you would like to utilize this opportunity, please contact Michelle Bull to make these arrangements.
