The successful individual will take a lead role in the management of complex patients requiring a wide range of skills including respiratory (acute conditions & breathlessness), neurology, mobility & rehabilitation. You may bring transferable skills learned from other clinical areas.
There is a strong commitment to multi-professional service delivery in conjunction with the MDT. This is an exciting time to join the team as we start to implement and plan a range of service development projects, business cases; including prehabilitation for this patient group & team expansion to support this.
You will be expected to jointly lead a team of physiotherapy staff, offering supervision & appraisals. You will work collaboratively with the specialist multi-disciplinary team on the in-patient wards and work alongside specialist rehabilitation teams.
This Band 7, Senior Physiotherapist (Team Lead) is a 12-month fixed term/secondment post predominantly oncology in-patient focused including the Teenager and Young Adults (TYA) Service. As part of your role, you will also support & cross-cover the Haematology caseload.
You will have access to regular clinical supervision & a range of training opportunities with a training budget to support this. A keen interest in evidence-based practice & leadership is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and developing the clinical service in their specialty and provide clinical leadership in partnership with other team leads and the wider MDT.
The successful applicant will take a lead role in the assessment and treatment of complex patients and be proactive in developing clinical practice within this specialty area.
You will be required to work collaboratively to manage a complex caseload, taking the lead role in assessment and treatment of a wide range of conditions within this specialist area. This requires a multi-skilled approach, demonstrating transferable skills relevant to the clinical area and supporting junior staff as required.
You will be supported to work closely with the specialist MDT and patients on the Teenage and Young Adults (TYA) service. This involves in-patient and out-patient work, requiring adaptable communication skills. There is access to relevant study days as well as teaching opportunities within this clinical cohort to further develop your skills.
We would expect applicants to have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work autonomously. Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential. Strong and compassionate leadership is essential. You will have essential prioritization skills and demonstrate holistic client-centered practice.

Essential
* Appropriate Physiotherapy or professional qualification e.g. MCSP/ BSc or MSc.
* Registration with Health Care Professions Council
* CSP or equivalent professional registration
* Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within own specialty, e.g. post registration training, management/leadership competencies, and evidence of a detailed personal development portfolio
* Relevant, accredited, postgraduate education/courses in relevant areas of physiotherapy
Desirable
* Post registration MSc
* Attended student educator course
Experience
Essential
* Significant post registration experience, including considerable experience in an inpatient specialty in an acute NHS organization, treating complex patients/long-term conditions/patients with cancer diagnosis.
* Experience of staff management including supervision and development/performance management of staff.
* Significant experience in education and clinical training of others.
* Some experience of clinical/service evaluation.
* Proficient knowledge and skill in the specialist assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical presentations relating to Oncology patients.
* Excellent knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
* Awareness of current evidence in physiotherapy and application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
* Good understanding of IT systems and its application to clinical practice.

* Good knowledge and application of all areas of Clinical Governance including Quality, Audit, and Risk management.
* Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession.
