We are seeking a well experienced and results-driven Regional Manager/Sales Director to oversee the sales and operational activities for our traffic survey services within the Midlands or Northern England region. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with expertise in both business development and sales management, along with a deep understanding of the traffic data and survey industry.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development:
* Lead Generation and Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to expand business within the traffic survey market.
* Client Acquisition: Identify and engage new clients across a variety of sectors (government, infrastructure, local authorities, transportation agencies, engineering firms).
* Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring repeat business and client satisfaction.
* Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by expanding market share and ensuring sales targets are met or exceeded.
* Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about trends, competitor activity, and client needs in the traffic survey and transport planning sectors.
* Tender/Proposal Management: Oversee the preparation of proposals, tenders, and bids for traffic survey projects.
Team Leadership and Management:
* Regional Team Management: Lead and manage a team of surveyors, site technicians, and support staff to ensure project delivery meets client requirements and deadlines.
* Performance Management: Set clear objectives for team members, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
* Training and Development: Ensure the team is continuously trained on the latest industry technologies, regulations, and best practices in traffic surveying.
Operational Oversight:
* Project Delivery: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of traffic survey projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
* Budget Management: Ensure projects are delivered within budget and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all traffic surveys are conducted in compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Reporting and Performance Analysis:
* Sales Forecasting: Provide regular sales forecasts and updates to senior management.
* KPIs and Metrics: Track performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency.
* Customer Feedback: Collect and analyse client feedback to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
Skills and Experience:
* Sales Leadership: Proven experience in a sales leadership role, with a track record of managing teams and growing business in a competitive market.
* Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of traffic surveying, transport planning, or civil engineering industries is highly desirable.
* Project Management: Demonstrable experience managing large-scale projects, including budget oversight, scheduling, and resource management.
* Client-Focused: Strong relationship management skills with a focus on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with clients, senior leadership, and team members.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse market trends, sales data, and client feedback to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent experience in civil engineering, transport planning, or a related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in sales and/or regional management, preferably in the traffic surveying or related sectors.
* Familiarity with traffic survey equipment and software (e.g., traffic counters, video analysis tools, traffic survey methodologies).
* Knowledge of UK transportation policies, traffic regulations, and industry standards.
* Full UK driving license required for regional travel.
Desirable:
* Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT)).
* Previous experience working in a field-based surveying or data collection environment.
