As a key member of the Data team, this position is responsible for establishing excellent resource management and delivery governance to support the successful delivery of our Data projects and activities. This role will drive vital aspects of the team’s PMO function, including demand management, resource management (matching supply with demand across various resource types), CAPEX and OPEX budget tracking, portfolio reporting, dependency management, risk and issue management, and milestone tracking.
This role will become part of the wider PMO community to provide reporting input, share data, collaborate on best practices, and help cascade and embed process improvements. The individual will have a keen eye for detail and hold high standards, knowing what good looks like and striving to deliver it. They need to be able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and initiative, with a proven ability to establish excellent working relationships with both suppliers and colleagues.
What will I be doing?
* Track all Data Programme costs, perform variance analysis, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
* Ensure effective working relationships with the Transformation team for accurate forecasting of Data-specific resourcing and costs.
* Define and improve financial analysis across the Data Portfolio and establish new tools for effective Supplier and Resource Management.
* Promote project management methods and standards, implement good project management practices, and monitor certain projects within the portfolio.
* Proactively manage key delivery risks and issues within the Data portfolio, feeding critical ones into the Transformation team RAID logs.
* Provide reporting services to the wider portfolio, generate reports, and add insights and recommendations for the target audience.
What do I need?
* Proven experience of operating in a similar role for a minimum of 5 years as a PMO Lead on a major programme or delivery portfolio.
* Experience of leading the implementation of best practice PMO governance and resource management, with advanced planning and problem-solving capabilities.
* Strong communication and briefing skills, able to manipulate and manage data into board-level dashboards.
* Ability to work effectively across a matrixed team of experienced Portfolio/Project Managers, Business Stakeholders, and Support teams, providing value-added services and timely information.
* Sound knowledge of programme and project management methodologies, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Desirable but not essential: understanding of Jira/DevOps and SharePoint ownership/administration, and PMO Practitioner or other related Programme/Project Management qualifications (e.g., MSP, Prince2 Practitioner).
