The role is 1.0 FTE and is for an initial fixed term of 18 months. However, it may be extended subject to future funding.
Hours
37 hours (30 hours during a 4-day working week)
Applicants will be interested to know that Rise is currently operating a 4-day working week. Full time employees are gifted one day off per week (Fridays), but still paid a full-time salary. This reduces the working hours from 37 to 30 per week, but is not a contractual entitlement.
Location / Flexible Working
We’d like to see you once a week in our office, but can be flexible in busy delivery periods. We are open to talking about flexible working options, including job sharing and annualised hours, such as term-time only.
Job summary
The Active Communities Engagement Lead role will enhance and support Rise’s place-based expansion work in conjunction with partners including Gateshead Council, Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner’s Violence Reduction Unit, and the VCSE sector.
Based within the community, the role holder will engage with residents and work with communities in Gateshead (with a particular focus on Beacon Lough & Wrekenton, Felling, and Dunston & Teams) to take a strength-based, community-centered approach to understanding and improving health and wellbeing outcomes.
The central focus of the role requires strong collaboration with local stakeholders and residents of Gateshead to understand the systemic barriers to physical activity. The role will focus on consulting with partners and residents and using the insight gained to influence future decision-making and system change.
The role holder will need to fully embed themselves within the community, developing a strong relationship and network with residents, statutory partners, the VCSE sector, and other stakeholders to understand the inequalities the community of Gateshead faces.
