Pressure Testing & Pre-Commissioning Engineer – Leeds

Murphy is currently recruiting for a Pressure Testing & Pre Commissioning Engineer to join our award-winning Energy team in at the Pipeline Testing & Welding Services site in Leeds. The Pressure Testing and Pre-Commissioning Engineer will need to be commercially aware and possess a strong Mechanical Engineering bias with a clear focus on technical integrity/process safety. The role will require technical and commercial input into the tendering phase, through contract review, production of method statements, coordination of risk assessments and project documentation, supporting calculations and handover to operations. In addition to these project related duties the role will also encompass client facing technical ownership of all pressure equipment (i.e. test ends, blinds, fittings) with internal liaison as necessary with welding and inspection function.

Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients including National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, National Grid Ventures, on both transmission and distribution networks. Our projects include Compressor stations, Natural Gas and LNG Terminals, AGI’s, pipelines and diversions.
What you will be doing:
1. Preparation and control of all detailed engineering procedures, systems, RAMS, plans and specialist equipment for the pressure testing & pre commissioning operations.
2. Be the point of technical contact for all external clients and will aid manage project costs/variations with liaison with internal commercial team as necessary.
3. Ensure all operations assigned to comply with Murphy Health, Safety, Security and Environmental expectations policies and procedures.
4. Will be required to guide and mentor staff within function ensuring they are working within safe guidelines.
5. Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
6. Co-ordination and allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate construction and installation staff are appointed to projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge.
7. Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets, for the projected workload.
8. Ensures that all pressure testing activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
9. Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with quality procedures.
10. Interfaces with the all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning and handover to the client.
11. Ensure regular input from the Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.
12. Participate in, and positively promote, the Murphy Culture Development Culture (leading to Zero Harm).
Who are we looking for?
13. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
14. Experience within the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry
15. Experience in Cryogenic Nitrogen, LN2 convertors, hoses, tanks & vaporisers
16. Knowledge of Mechanical calculations from first principles, Pipeline Codes & Standards, Pressure Testing, Pipeline Pigging, Pig Trap/Test End Design etc.
