Residual Barrier Technology has developed a range of environmentally friendly, highly effective disinfectants. Our technology protects industries and sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, commercial and residential buildings and food manufacturing. We operate our own Level 2 lab in Daventry where we continuously strive to be at the forefront of disinfection technology, all whilst producing products that combine high efficacy with environmental sensitivity. We have a growing business in the UK and South Africa, and we are soon to launch our products to the Australian market.
Position Summary
Support the Head of R&D in advancing RBT's chemical disinfection products while being responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratory. Responsibilities include conducting lab work such as developing, sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysing results for experiments and quality control of antimicrobial products. The role also involves assisting in technical research, as well as maintaining and calibrating various laboratory equipment. You will be part of a small, close-knit team where your input and opinion will be valued.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct laboratory tests to generate reliable and accurate data to support RBT’s scientific research and product quality control.
2. Lead various small to medium sized Customer Driven Projects with the support of peers.
3. Perform routine tasks meticulously, adhering to established methodologies and protocols.
4. Prepare sample mixtures according to formulation requirements for analysis.
5. Record and interpret initial results and discuss with the Head of R&D.
6. Conduct routine calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and usability.
7. Maintain detailed logs of procedures and experimental results.
8. Prepare comprehensive technical reports and share findings with the Head of R&D.
9. Present results to senior management.
10. Ensure all testing aligns with the standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.
11. Participate in quality assurance, ensuring laboratory standards comply with RBT’s Quality Management System (QMS).
12. Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and equipment inventory.
13. Manage the lab to ensure customer needs are met and R&D projects effectively delivered.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Competencies
1. Post-graduate degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
2. Experience working independently in a laboratory environment.
3. Experience with microbiological techniques (e.g., aseptic methods, microbial culture maintenance) is preferred but not essential.
4. Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to follow protocols accurately and maintain data integrity.
5. Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve equipment or procedural issues.
6. Effective time management to handle multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
7. Ability to communicate findings clearly and work collaboratively within a team.
8. Ability to write concise and compelling reports.
9. Experience in desk-based research and developing experiment protocols is advantageous.
10. Must have the immediate right to work in the United Kingdom.
