We are seeking an excellent and experienced Chef to support the catering facilities management team in delivering a first class, fresh nutritious food offer and service to the pupils, staff and customers of Headington Rye Oxford. You will have excellent cooking skills and a flair for quality in the use of fresh ingredients.
You will support the delivery of an evolving catering strategy that creates a unique selling point to the school and aids the chef- shift leader to inspire and support the production and service in delivery of these objectives.
The Catering Department consists of approximately 35 staff operating over two sites, Prep and Senior school.
All the catering staff are directly employed by the School. We operate all year round with external lettings during the Summer and Easter Holidays.
The Chef role is a full time, term-time position, working an additional 30 days per annum (August to July), mainly Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work
Key Responsibilities
* produce and assist in the production of high-quality food for core services and functions as required
* maintain food safety and hygiene systems and general risk controls, ensuring compliance with current and future legislation in accordance with training and duties outlined in the departmental policy
* ensure that customer food allergy and intolerance contamination risks are minimised or eliminated where possible through compliance with policies and training received
* assist pupils with their food choices as required in a professional, supportive manner
* maintain cleanliness of all light and heavy equipment in accordance with training to maximise the visual impact of equipment for service and protect the community against contamination of food
* remove all waste from the production and service areas as required to the appropriate disposal point
* follow the instructions and advice of the management team in delivery of the services
Full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent, term time plus 30 additional days per academic year

Contributory membership of the School’s Support Staff Pension Scheme with a School contribution of up to 9.95 per cent upon successful completion of six months’ service.
Fee remission
In accordance with the School’s policy, which may be subject to change, up to 50 per cent fee remission for pupils attending Headington Rye Oxford and up to 20 per cent fee remission for boys attending Magdalen College School (under a reciprocal agreement) and subject to the terms of their policy. Fee remission is calculated on the number of weeks and hours worked and is pro rata for part-time staff who work at least 50 per cent of a normal working week.
Salary
£28,000 full time equivalent per annum, pro-rated salary to be confirmed on appointment
