WorkwithSchools are looking to recruit a Nursery Room Leader to lead two-year-olds in a nursery setting based in York. This role is permanent and full-time, working four full days a week with one day off, and is to start as soon as possible. A great rate of pay is available, dependent on experience. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all two-year-old checks, ensuring they are completed before moving to the next rising Preschool room. Staff, activities, and risk assessments must be monitored and reviewed daily. Purpose of Post Ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children in their care. Ensure all children are safeguarded, and their welfare and safety are promoted. Give support to other team members within their immediate room and the wider nursery. Work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment for all children to play, learn, and develop. Main Duties Support team members with the specific knowledge and skills required to work effectively with children of this age. Formulate and operate a programme of activities that meet individual needs and interests of children, in conjunction with other team members and the Manager. Follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, and ensure all team members can do the same. Keep records of key children’s development and learning journeys, sharing this with parents, carers, and other key adults, and institute reviews for parents with the Manager. Support team members in the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs, providing appropriate guidance. Manage training and support for team members to effectively complete two-year-old progress checks. Ensure all children receive progress checks as outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage, shared with parents in a timely manner. Conduct supervision meetings, contribute to appraisals, and participate in nursery management meetings, feeding back to teams. Support team members in engaging in good teamwork. Ensure accurate and up-to-date record keeping in your designated area. Conduct room and outdoor checks according to nursery procedures. Liaise with and support parents and other family members. Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with the nursery. Participate in out-of-hours activities, including training, meetings, and fundraising events. Undertake domestic tasks within the nursery, such as preparing snack meals and cleansing equipment. Participate in training programmes with students and volunteers, providing guidance and support. Work with the Manager and staff team to fulfill the nursery philosophy. Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures and support team members to do the same. Maintain standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness, ensuring child safety and well-being. Ensure a known and agreed person collects each child. Ensure confidentiality of all information in your area. Specific Childcare Tasks Facilitate activities to suit individual children’s development and interests. Support staff in their roles, especially as key persons. Ensure mealtimes are pleasant and social. Manage changing and washing children as needed. Keep poorly children calm and notify parents for collection. Maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers. Provide a high-quality environment for all children.
