AWE is currently recruiting for a Pressure Vessel Engineer
This role is ideally suited to candidates that can demonstrate experience in pressure vessel design, manufacture and/or assurance and have the ability to engage at all levels of experience including external contractors.
Working within the Applied Engineering Team, You will be part of a small team, underwriting the design, manufacture and certification of bespoke Pressure and Vacuum equipment for use at AWE. The team sits within Warhead Engineering but provides support across the business.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone that can:
Review design information relating to pressure/ vacuum equipment such as design requirements, engineering drawings and calculations against internal procedures and applicable design codes
Provide conformity assessment at contractors works (predominately UK based) for the manufacture and testing of pressure/ vacuum equipment prior to delivery to AWE
Provide support to internal/ external stakeholders in resolving emerging issues relating to design/ manufacture of pressure/ vacuum equipment
Provide guidance and promote the use of AWEs safety procedures and design standards related to discipline
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:
Have a degree in an engineering discipline and have/be willing to work towards charted status
Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering practise including welding, identification on drawings, materials, NDT Testing, inspection, schedule and traceability, proof pressure
Working knowledge of Regulations and Standards for Pressure Equipment i.e. Pressure Equipment Directive and Pressure Equipment Regulations, Inc PED risk categories and conformity assessments
Working knowledge of the Design of Pressure and Vacuum Systems and one or more relevant vessel/ piping design codes such as PD5500, ASME III, ASME VIII Division 1 2&3, BS EN 13445, BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3
Understanding of Quality Control Plans and Inspection and Test Plans including their creation and approval
Ability to carry out a review of a company against the requirements of the pressure vessel codes

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas if required
A majority of working hours will be spent visiting AWE's external manufacturing supply chain who design/ manufacture pressure equipment. Therefore, a full driving licence is essential.
