We have an enviable record on site, our HSE experts take great pride in what they do, acting as the main focal point for all project HSE matters. Their principal purpose is to provide efficient and effective value added support to a variety of teams on all HS & E matters, ensuring we are fully compliant with site, company, project, contract and legal requirements, and of course to ensure we all get home to our families safely at the end of the day. They provide advice and guidance and ensure that HSE is a positive cultural mindset.
The Construction Environmental Adviser will provide professional environmental advice and support to the project to meet customer, legislative, and regulatory requirements. This role is integral to the Programme/Project/OU, participating in relevant EHS forums and interfacing with stakeholders, customers, and regulators as required. The adviser will also help ensure environmental compliance and safety during project delivery.
Responsibilities:
1. Assess EHS risks and provide professional advice to Duty Holders in line with legislation and site policies.
2. Identify and respond to EHS issues, providing advice on measures to protect the environment and ensure safe project delivery.
3. Undertake inspections, observations, and assurance activities to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
4. Support the investigation of EHS incidents, ensuring corrective actions and sharing of learning opportunities.
5. Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant EHS legislation, site arrangements, and standards.
6. Gain an in-depth understanding of specific EHS hazards and associated controls within the Programme/Project/OU.
7. Support interactions with internal and external regulators (e.g., ONR, EA) and external organisations such as WANO, RoSPA, LRQA.
8. Assist construction teams in understanding and implementing EHS procedures and arrangements.
9. Assess processes and systems for suitability and compliance with project EHS standards.
We are looking for someone with the below experience:
* Relevant STEM subject degree or equivalent level of qualification/experience.
* Professional membership with a relevant body (e.g., IEMA, SRP, IOSH).
* Strong ability to advise and influence work practices to ensure compliance with legislation and procedures.
* Experience leading by example, setting EHS standards, and promoting a positive EHS culture.
* Experience in delivering EHS training at a Programme/Project/OU level.
* Several years of experience working on industrial sites with diverse hazards.
* Ability to coach, mentor, and assess EHS role holders and contribute to workforce competence in EHS.
