Job Description:
NOVA Workforce is seeking an experienced instructor to deliver classroom and technical training that will prepare students to successfully pass the EPA 608 Universal certification exams. This is a non-credit, 42 instructional hours course for adult learners. Must be available to teach evenings or Saturday classes. Instructor will also be responsible to proctor students’ exams.
Duties and Tasks:
1. Provide hands-on instruction and practical training to prepare students for the EPA 608 Universal exams. Training should focus on exam objectives
2. Prepares, teaches and evaluates assigned instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, student handouts, hands-on exercises, assessments, and training aids (classroom and lab).
3. Evaluate students to ensure they are meeting learning objectives and are prepared for the certification exams.
4. Assist in class scheduling and program management.
5. Advises program Manager of needed supplies and materials for the class.
6. Maintains a hazard free environment and practices safety in lab(s) or classroom.
7. Working knowledge of computer applications and the ability to use computer for providing class presentation.

As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Minimum Qualifications:

8. Practical application of the principles of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
9. Proficiency in installation and service of HVACR equipment
10. Demonstrate the skills necessary to teach the fundamental and advanced concepts of installing and servicing HVACR equipment
11. Ability to design, supervise, and evaluate lab assignments to demonstrate student proficiency
12. Excellent organizational skills and classroom management skills
13. Ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear and engaging way
14. Ability to work with groups of varying ages, skills level, and socio-economic backgrounds
15. Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
16. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
17. Ability to work individually as well as on a team
18. Must be a self-starter and innovative thinker
Required Qualifications:
19. Combination of education and industry credentials to demonstrate content expertise
20. Must hold active EPA 608 Universal certification
21. Two (2) years’ experience in the field of HVAC/R
22. One (1) years’ experience teaching
Preferred Qualifications:
23. Associates degree
24. Previous experience in an educational or training setting
25. Journeyman HVAC license
26. Experience teaching adult learners
27. Experience in curriculum design and development
28. Experience teaching “boot camp” style training courses
29. Prior experience teaching in higher education
30. Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
31. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
32. Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
