My client is looking for a commercially astute Financial Controller to lead the finance function and support their strategic growth ambitions. The Role: As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the financial health of the business, providing key insights to drive decision-making and ensuring strong financial controls. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a hands-on role that requires both strategic thinking and operational execution. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all financial operations, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for senior management and stakeholders. Develop and maintain robust financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage the external audit process and liaise with external advisors. Drive improvements in financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and scalability. Provide financial analysis to support business growth, cost control, and profitability. Partner with department heads to ensure financial best practices across the business. The Ideal Candidate: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience in an SME environment. Strong technical accounting skills combined with commercial acumen. Experience in managing cash flow, forecasting, and financial strategy. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders. Hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Knowledge of financial systems and ERP software including Sage Experience in the wholesale sector would be advantageous but not essential.
