A fantastic opportunity has recently arisen within the Bristol Urological Institute for a Patient Pathway Assistant working 30 hours a week to join our busy Urology department within the Bladder cancer team. This role supports the administrative processes for patients with Urological issues in the Bristol and South West area, as well as RTT patients needing general urology care.
The role will involve working closely with the Consultant Team and Patient Pathway Coordinator, deputising for them as required. The ideal candidate will need to work in a calm, logical, organised, and methodical way while being able to multi-task in a busy environment with complex patient pathways.
Main duties of the job
The Urology Patient Pathway Assistant is responsible for supporting the Patient Pathway Coordinator to manage the inpatient and day case waiting lists for Consultant Urologists operating at Southmead Hospital, coordinating admission and associated pre-operative clinics and theatre lists.
1. Support the Patient Pathway Coordinator in ensuring that patients are admitted efficiently for investigative treatments and procedures.
2. Add, remove, and modify patients to and from the waiting list as requested.
3. Book theatre lists as dictated by the Patient Pathway Coordinator.
4. Schedule outpatient appointments, book pre-admission appointments, and organise investigative treatments.
5. Provide administrative support to consultant/clinical teams.
6. Ensure accurate completion of clinic letters once dictation has been received.
7. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
8. Liaise with partner organisations to assist in facilitating patient treatment.
9. Provide advice to patients regarding admission and their position on the waiting list.
10. Handle enquiries from all service users in a courteous manner.
Person specification
* GSCE in Maths and English
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to follow procedures
* NHS Experience, Patient pathway knowledge
* PAS experience
