We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual, including ECTs, to join our thriving Design & Technology department in a Catholic secondary school in Hammersmith. About the D&T Department: The Design & Technology department is a collaborative and inspiring team with a shared commitment to fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including textiles, product design, resistant materials, and electronics. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to a variety of textile equipment and resources, including sewing machines, looms, and dyeing facilities. About the Role: Teach Textiles across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Guide and support students in developing their skills in textile design, construction, and manufacturing techniques. Encourage students to explore different textile materials, techniques, and processes, fostering their creativity and innovation. Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Textiles curriculum remains relevant and challenging. Foster a love of Design & Technology in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, develop their practical skills, and become innovative problem-solvers. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in D&T education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent (or is eligible to apply). Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Textiles and a passion for design and creativity. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Textiles and a commitment to student success. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for D&T and relevant examination specifications. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
