Description
Salary - £48,881 including a non-consolidated shift allowance of 15%, Location – Pan-London – This is not a hybrid role - this is a full uniformed role.
Compliance, Policing Operations and Security (CPOS) is responsible for enforcement, compliance, policing and security and community safety across TfL. Our work contributes to keeping our transport network safe and secure, improving passenger confidence, and ensuring that the rules and regulations are enforced in a fair and proportionate manner.
CPOS Operations Provides a professional, highly visible compliance and enforcement service across the breadth of TfL services. This could mean working at our bus stations, our train stations, on the underground and rail network, on our buses or across the Taxi and Private Hire industry. As an Assistant Operations Manager you will lead a team of professional and highly capable Operations officers, supporting them with the challenging work they carry out, helping the development of your people and ensuring we maintain the highest level of standards, honesty and integrity which will contribute to customer and staff trust and confidence in our services.

You will want to make a real difference and will be used to working with tight deadlines, able to make sense of ambiguity, always focusing on doing what’s right for our people and our customers.
Across our network you will provide uniformed on street People Leadership of operational resources contributing to improved compliance through on-network activities, as part of a customer service focused team delivering safety, security and reliability through engagement and enforcement. You will work with the wider CPOS Operations team to deliver operational improvements in alignment with CPOS objectives, including prevention of crime and anti-social behaviour.
You will manage a geographically dispersed operational team, working a specified shift pattern which may include night and weekend shifts (rosters are always subject to change).
Key Accountabilities
* Provide effective uniformed on-street leadership of a team of operational staff, driving team performance, ensuring high standards of conduct and customer service.
* Identify and act as first point of contact for all Health & Safety related issues, ensuring possible issues are resolved quickly. Where this is not possible, ensure that matters are raised with the appropriate member of the leadership team.
* Encourage others to take safety seriously and ensure they understand the latest safety procedures e.g. via briefings, and checking of understanding.
* Monitor staff performance and attendance ensuring relevant Operations Managers are kept informed of issues and staff records are updated accordingly.
* Contribute and deliver effective tasking and deployment of operational resources across CPOS operations.
* Liaise with local Trade Union representatives to ensure that, wherever possible, day to day issues are resolved quickly on a local basis.
* Ensure all activities undertaken by Operations Officers are undertaken with the prescribed level of authority.
* Manage the Operations Officer workload ensuring all reports are quality driven and of a required standard to support any enforcement action being taken in line with the TfL Enforcement policy.
* Liaise with the appeals and prosecutions team on appeals and court cases to provide evidence in support of any appeals or prosecutions.
* Provide cover for other People Leaders as and when required.
* Any other reasonable task or activity as directed from time to time by the Leadership team.

Important Information
Appointment to post: Candidates must successfully pass the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, employment referencing, advanced medical screening, and a drug & alcohol test. Failure to pass any of these will result in the offer of employment being withdrawn at any stage.
Vetting: The role requires Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) & Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme (RSAS) authority. This means that all Operations Officers will be police vetted to Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 with Counter Terrorism Check (NPPV2/Full).

You will be required to maintain your vetting status throughout your employments, this includes renewals which presently take place on a 3 yearly cycle or to a frequency as determined by the police service. If for any reason you are unable to maintain your vetting status, your employment will be terminated.
Training
You will complete extensive classroom training which will aim to give you all the knowledge and skills required to begin your career as an Assistant Operations Officer.
