This role is part of the IT Services team within the Research Systems Support Hub. The Research Systems Support Hub provides a highly effective service management function, end-user technical support and oversees the day-to-day management and maintenance of research information systems, working in partnership with key business owners. The Hub works on new initiatives and projects to investigate new system functionality, by testing, upgrading and further developing research information systems and their associated processes. About the role The Research Systems Support Hub maintains the following centrally supported research systems: PURE, Worktribe Research Management, Research Professional, ResearchFish and SciVal. You will take a significant role in the resolution of complex system issues and strategic project work while developing the Research Systems Support Hub’s service management capability to ensure the Hub can support the objectives of its key stakeholders and research system product owners. We work in a highly collaborative environment and there are multiple opportunities to work with colleagues across IT Services and the wider University to increase your network. We also support training to further your practice, be that through conferences, courses or certification. You will also have the opportunity to spend time on continuing professional development (CPD). Skills, Experience & Qualification needed: Ability to exploit system functionality to deliver new and relevant services to end-users Experience of supporting and delivering technical training Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience Proven experience in leading on project work, including engaging with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication, and consistently meeting delivery targets Proven capability to adapt and respond to strategic changes within the organisation, ensuring they align with overarching business objectives Proficiency in using a range of relational databases for analysis and reporting purposes e.g. experience of extracting data from an Oracle SQL database Ability to comprehend the big picture across a suite of IT systems, recognizing how they interconnect and impact one another Demonstrable ability to learn and retain knowledge of new systems and processes quickly Evidence of upholding our behaviours as specified in the job description.
