About The Service Y Deryn family of schools is a secondary age Key Stage (KS) 3 and Key Stage 4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for 180 learners who have behavioural, emotional, mental health and social difficulties based across two sites. Bryn y Deryn and Can y Deryn KS 4 Teaching assistant (TA) positions will be based in Lawrenny avenue, Leckwith CF11 8XB and Nyth y Deryn KS3 positions in Cefn Rd Mynachdy, CF14 3HS. The KS3 provision, Nyth y Deryn provides education and wellbeing for learners with challenging behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and learners with emotional-based school avoidance with the aim of returning learners back to mainstream schools. TA’s will be expected to support across the breadth of areas of learning experience and will follow a model similar to a primary school. What We Are Looking For From You The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have some successful experience of working with learners who have behaviour social and mental health problems and be able to empathise with pupils’ difficulties. They will be able to support teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual learners. Additional information Please note: This is a part-time role for 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The advertised salary is based on a full-time position and will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. The actual salary for this role will range from £18,290 to £19,170 per annum, depending on hours worked. These posts attract an Additional Learning Needs allowance of £561.84 per annum. These posts have a requirement for registration with the Education Workforce Council. These posts are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
