We're looking for a Principal Business Analyst to come and join our team!
The Principal Business Analyst (PBA) designs solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders, clients, and users across the Organisation. They work on a variety of projects across the Organisation, supporting the Organisation in delivering business benefits through successful Change projects, programmes, and workstreams. The PBA designs, creates, and leads all BA’s across the Organisations portfolio with a range of tools, approaches, and methodologies to achieve consistency, deliver success, and improve standards.
The PBA will directly manage all BA resources across the Change portfolio, ensuring alignment and consistency in approach and outcomes. The PBA will create and champion the BA culture across the Organisation, raising the profile of the BA community and associated investment in this capability.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Create, build and maintain a network of strong relationships working across the organisation (working closely with business SMEs, department heads, and other key stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities).
* Facilitate workshops, meetings, and interviews to elicit and capture requirements, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for improvement.
* Communicate complex concepts and solutions in a clear and concise manner appropriate for the audience.
* Identify, manage, and where required, escalate issues, risks and concerns to ensure appropriate risk mitigation.
Business Analysis:
* Develop and mature the BA approach and capability within the Organisation in standardising the approach, methodologies and tooling used across Projects and Programmes.
* Work with the CMO team to ensure that Business Analysis is correctly reflected in the Change Framework and make access to templates, tooling and processes easy to use/access.
* Lead the elicitation, documentation, and analysis of business requirements across multiple workstreams, projects and where required, programmes, ensuring they are comprehensive, accurate, and aligned with business goals.
* Champion the BA capability across projects, programmes and BAU to ensure that the appropriate skills, approaches and methodologies are applied to analysis across the organisation.
* Lead the development of detailed functional specifications, use cases, user stories, and process models to support the development and implementation of solutions.
* Collaborate cross functionally and with technical teams to ensure that requirements are understood and translated into system design and functionality.
* Ensure comprehensive documentation of acceptance criteria to enable meaningful testing, support defect triage to validate that solutions meet business needs and requirements.
* Ensure that all deliverables meet the highest quality standards and comply with organisational standards and industry best practices.
* Conduct reviews and walkthroughs of business requirements and functional specifications with stakeholders and project teams.
* Analyse and document business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions to optimize performance and enhance productivity.
* Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and improve overall business operations.
* Utilise data-driven analysis to support decision-making and provide actionable insights.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
* Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business analysis and project management.
* Implement and maintain a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and implementing best practices, providing a unified voice for the BA community.
* Lead the maturing of the Analysis practice as well as the wider change practice of the organisation through the development and refinement of business analysis methodologies, tools, and templates.
Leadership & Team Management:
* Manage high performing team of Lead Business Analysts and Business Analysts in the day to day operations/specific project/programme requirements.
* Lead, coach and mentor the team on analysis, processes and broader Project/Programme relationship/stakeholder management; providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
* Develop and implement an approach to ensuring quality and consistency across the BA practise.
* Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
Qualifications and Education
Skills and Knowledge
Desirable qualifications/technical knowledge:
* Formal qualifications in Business Analysis.
* Knowledge or understanding of project methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
Experience:
* Significant experience as a Senior/Lead/Principal BA.
* Experience of leading BA delivery on complex projects or programmes (>£1m).
* Experience of successfully managing, coaching and mentoring junior Business Analysts.
* Proven experience in an agile and waterfall delivery environment.
* Intermediate level experience in all or some of the following: Scrum, Kanban, Time Boxing, Adaptive planning, Burn Down Lists.

Salary circa £70,000 per annum
