Title: Environmental Consultant
Location: Smithfield, Dublin (in person with site travelling)
Work Arrangement: 7 months fixed term contract
Salary Range: €40,000 – €45,000 DOE
Job Purpose:
The Regional Technical Support Officer is responsible for supporting the work of the Eastern Midlands Regional Waste Management Planning Office (RWMPO) in implementing waste policies and plans regionally and nationally. This is a technical role and you will be required to utilise your technical expertise working independently and alongside the EM RWMPO Team in all aspects of their work. A core aspect of the role is the validation of waste data nationally, where you will be responsible for meticulously validating and analysing waste data and engaging with a range of
stakeholders. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality.
Context:
Data Analysis:
* Analyse waste data provided by waste collection permit holders and waste facility permit holders for completeness, consistency and credibility validation.
* Analyse and compile waste data for reporting, identifying errors or discrepancies where relevant.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and utilise data sources in relation to anomaly identification and provide guidance to stakeholders to rectify errors and ensure accuracy.
* Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
* Generate insights and recommendations to enhance efficiency and continuous improvements.
Compliance Assurance:
* Stay informed of relevant waste management regulations and guidelines.
* Ensure that waste data submissions align with regulatory requirements and client standards.
* Document validation queries and responses.
Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of data validation processes.
* Create reports summarising annual waste data validation findings.
* Compilation and reporting of national and regional data and statistics.
Communication and Collaboration:
* Engage with various waste operators (Collection Permit/Facility Permit holders) and organisations such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO), the Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLA) and Local Authorities.
* Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
* Communicate validation results, compliance status, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
* Undertake other duties as required both within the RWMPO and wider Environmental Projects teams.

Required Skills and Experience:
* NVQ Level 8 qualification in environmental science or engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum of four years of work experience with a minimum of two years working in the environmental sector.
* Experience working with waste data, statistics and statistical reporting.
* Experience in managing projects and process-driven activities.
* Experience in managing/engaging with stakeholders.
* Have a detailed knowledge of waste policy, legislation and regulation.
* Proven understanding of waste enforcement best practices, national waste guidance documents and SOPs.
* Knowledge and experience of waste flows and operations at waste processing facilities.
* High level of proficiency in MS Excel
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills including written technical reports and delivering presentations.
* Ability to work independently, whilst contributing to the overall objectives.
* Fluent in written and oral English
