As a permanent full-time Spider Excavator Operator at NAVIQ, you will play a vital role in our geotechnical construction projects located across various sites in Australia.
Main tasks
Spider Excavator Operation:
* Operate spider excavators to perform geotechnical and construction tasks, including slope stabilisation, excavation, drilling, and foundation work.
* Use precision controls to execute tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
* Mentor and train trainee operators in the safe and efficient operation of spider excavators.
* Provide hands-on guidance and instruction to help trainees develop their skills and knowledge.
* Foster a positive learning environment that encourages trainee operators to excel in their roles.
Safety Compliance:
* Prioritise safety as the topmost value during all equipment operations.
* Adhere strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others on-site.
* Conduct regular equipment safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
Problem-Solving:
* Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges encountered during spider excavator operations.
* Proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain project progress and quality.
Equipment Maintenance:
* Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of spider excavators to ensure optimal performance and safety.
* Report any equipment issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance as necessary.
* Coordinate repairs or replacements as required to minimise downtime and delays.
Data Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment usage and project progress.
* Prepare regular reports for project managers and stakeholders to track equipment performance and project status.
Essential experience required:
* Spider Excavator Operation: You have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating spider excavators. You are proficient in operating these specialised machines, utilising their unique capabilities for precision excavation, slope stabilization, trenching, and other civils-related tasks.
* Civils Experience: You possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in the civils industry. Your knowledge and skills include working on a wide range of civil engineering projects such as road construction, foundation work, earthworks, and infrastructure development.
* Equipment Maintenance: You have a good working knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. You ensure the proper care, cleaning, and routine maintenance of the spider excavators under your responsibility to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime.
* Safety Compliance: Safety is your top priority. You have a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the civils industry. You consistently follow safety protocols to create a secure working environment for yourself and your team.
* Problem-Solving Skills: You possess excellent problem-solving skills, allowing you to identify and address challenges that may arise during spider excavator operations. Your ability to think critically and find solutions ensures project continuity and successful completion.
* Team Collaboration: You excel in a team environment and have effective communication skills. You can work closely with other crew members, engineers, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
* Travel Flexibility: As projects are situated across various sites in Australia, you must have the ability to travel. You are willing to work on different project locations, adapting to diverse environments and climates.
Qualifications essential:
* Plant operator licence - excavator
* Working safety at Heights
* White card
Qualifications desirable:
* Rope Access certified.
* High Risk Work licences: DG, RB
* First aid / CPR
