Reporting to the Consulting Regional Manager, as a Senior Environmental Consultant undertaking a highly autonomous role, your focus will be on providing cradle to grave project management for environmental claims projects, including all aspects of fieldwork data gathering, risk assessment and factual and interpretive reporting. Your duties will include:
1. Project budgeting and invoicing, ensuring deadlines and targets are met in line with Client service level agreements
2. Gathering robust fieldwork data working in a safe manner
3. Observing health, safety and environment rules and procedures
4. Maintaining project communication on technical and commercial levels to a diverse range of clients, regulators, and homeowners
5. Writing technically sound and commercially focused proposals, scopes, and reports
6. Managing and monitoring junior staff and the needs of the wider team
Our Requirements – Senior Environmental Consultant
1. Proven experience (minimum 3 years) gained in a similar role as a Senior Environmental Consultant, with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment experience (including supervising ground investigation subcontractors)
2. Experience completing factual and interpretative Preliminary Risk Assessments (desk based and intrusive)
3. Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering or natural science related discipline (e.g., Geology, Environmental Science, Physical Geography)
4. A full UK driving licence, and willingness to travel throughout the UK and Ireland with occasional requirement to work away.
5. Understanding of current and emerging environmental legislation
6. Excellent organisational, time-management, analytical and numerical skills with an eye for detail
7. Excellent communication and written skills, with the confidence to interact effectively with clients and the public
8. Commercial awareness both in project costings but also in risk management
9. Willingness to mentor and train junior staff
The Package
1. Permanent contract, working Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm
2. Salary in the region of £35,000 - £38,000 with the starting level dependent on experience
3. Car allowance, with business related travel expenses paid
4. Potential to earn an annual discretionary bonus

6. 25 days annual leave +bank holidays, increasing to a maximum of 28 days +bank holidays with length of service

Although not essential, an MSc or MSci level degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Contaminated Land, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science, would be advantageous.
