The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The NSFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence and their children, inclusive of cis gendered heterosexual women and their children, as well as people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+) and their children.
This position is currently based in Preston with a mix of in-office and working from home.
What does a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner do?
As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner in the Crisis/Intake Response team, you will respond to incoming calls and referrals from victim survivors and provide secondary consultations to professionals. The role may also include short-term case management to victim survivors in crisis accommodation.
In this role, you will provide a response to victim survivors at risk, including ongoing assessment of family violence risk, safety planning, assertive engagement, outreach, extensive advocacy, and referrals within the service system.
The NSFVS service operates within a collaborative and supportive team environment with a strong focus on partnerships with relevant external organisations.
What skills and qualifications do you need?
The successful candidate will hold a minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, equivalent qualifications, or have recent employment in the family violence sector, or equivalency met through the Rec 209 7 Equivalency Principles in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements.
You will also have experience working with women and children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence and the ability and experience to undertake comprehensive risk assessments (CRAF or TRAM).
