Parkrun is the largest health and wellbeing movement on the planet, with a global community of more than 9 million registered parkrunners across 23 countries in 5 continents.
We are a UK-based global charity with a vision to make the world a healthier and happier place. Our free 5k and 2k events take place every weekend, and are led by groups of dedicated local volunteers, with around 400,000 people taking part around the world each week.
Since our conception in 2004, parkrun has evolved into a global social movement with a vibrant and inclusive community at its core. As of 2024, people have joined in at parkrun more than 100 million times, whether that be as walker, jogger, runner or volunteer. By tackling barriers to participation, we encourage communities to come together and embrace regular physical activity, building healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
As the Head of Governance, you will provide strategic leadership on parkrun’s ‘licence to run’ – that is, ensuring the organisation has effective systems, procedures and controls for compliance with laws, regulations and standards in the jurisdictions in which parkrun operates. You will advise on appropriate governance structures and ensure that they are operating effectively, including overseeing international Board appointments.
The post-holder will drive the creation and development of the compliance, risk and governance strategy for the global organisation, focusing on the sustainability and future growth of parkrun around the world.
