Following the signing of our 20 year lease agreement securing our successful business in a struggling industry for the future, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to support our main chef in the running of our kitchen (and BBQ during summer months) with the delivery of our fantastic food at The Milking Parlour. Although we would prefer 2 part-time staff members for flexibility, we are open to discussions of 1 person taking up full-time hours on a contracted basis. Ideally, these candidates will not be leaving for university as they will become the core group of our team for as long as they are with us. Candidates must expect to work their hours over both the weekends and in the week. Hours can also be made higher at times in assisting at our other local venues when available or learning the front of house job also which would look great for your CV's going forward!
This role will require you to supervise the kitchen, prepare and cook pizzas from a menu of our making on a wood burning oven, keep the kitchens clean and tidy to maintain a 5* hygiene standard and also assist with running our BBQ in the summer. All training will be provided and although previous experience is NOT essential, it would be beneficial. The right attitude is more important than experience sometimes, so if you have an interest in food, pizzas, or cooking, this could be a perfect start to the industry with us being a smaller, simpler kitchen than most!
At Tollgate, food service finishes no later than 8pm, so you can expect to be finished soon after making the hours much more sociable than comparable positions in the industry.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
* Prepare a range of ingredients, sauces, and pizzas.
* Be involved in new pizza ideas and recipes going forward.
* Run shifts once fully trained, including being responsible for other team members in the kitchen and basic training where necessary.
* Prepare and execute the barbecue service, including set up and prep, food service, and a full clean down procedure when BBQ is running (In the summer).
* Maintain kitchen standards to required company levels.
* Implement, monitor, and maintain all Licensing, Health and Safety, and Food Safety regulations.
* Be responsible for the opening and closing of the kitchen in line with company processes as required.
Candidates are expected to be trained to a Supervisory level with the intention of regularly running kitchen shifts at a higher rate of pay and providing some holiday cover for other kitchen supervisors. For this reason, all applicants for this position must be 18 years old or above.
Successful applicants will begin training as soon as they are available on a probatory period of 3 months in which we would expect successful candidates to be trained to supervisor standard by then, if not sooner.
